Deane Cameron

Canadian musician and record company executive. Drummer with Tom Cochrane's early band [a=Cochrane (4)], he started to work at a warehouse for Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited in 1977. He worked his way up to VP of A&R and finally became President in 1988 (the youngest ever major label President in Canada). He remained in that role through the change to Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited and up until it was purchased by UMG in in 2012. In 2015 became President and CEO of both Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited and Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited until he passed away May 16th 2019 at the age of 65.

Nicknamed "Captain Canada" for his tireless efforts to support Canadian music, he served on the boards of the Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited, the Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited and the Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited. He also received multiple honours including the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 2011 Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited, the Hank Smith Award of Excellence at the 2014 CCMA Awards and induction into the Order of Canada.
