A composer and teacher born in Bordeaux, since 1989 Denis Bosse has lived and worked in Belgium. After studying science he decided to dedicate himself to music and went on to study at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux, participating in various international composition seminars, completing his training at the Royal Conservatory of Bruxelles and the Royal Conservatory of Liège. In 1996 Bosse was an intern composer at Ircam (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique/Paris), and from 1999 until 2000 was composer-inresidence with Montréal’s Nouvel ensemble moderne, where he worked with Lorraine Vaillancourt. In 2002 he was a prize-winner at the concours international de composition Gustav Mahler in Austria. Denis Bosse is an assistant professor of musical education at the Haute Ecole Galilée in Brussels, writing professor at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons, professor of composition at CRR—Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Cergy Pontoise and lecturer in composition at the Royal Conservatory of Liège. He has authored numerous works, including some with an educational theme. It is Bosse who not only composed le grand Crohot for 100 primary school students, but also Chameleons for junior orchestra and Humpty Dumpty for 250 children attending CRR choral training classes. His music is quite often played in Belgium, France, Austria and Canada by ensembles or by soloists such as Musiques Nouvelles; Quartz; Champ d’action; Soledad; Kaléidocollage; Proxima Centauri; Janus Ensemble (Vienna); Fragments, Hélix; Aleph; Nahandove; L’Autre Trio; Quatuor Danel; Musicatreize; Trio Fibonacci; Nouvel ensemble moderne; Ensemble OI\I; Emmanuel Comté; Jean-Paul Dessy; Pierre Bartholomé; Lorraine Vaillancourt; Alain Pire; Paolo Vignaroli.
