Der Fremde

German band from Bad Salzuflen and Herford, later moved to Cologne. The band is considered as one of the bands with high impact on the "Hamburger Schule" movement, although the band never was based in Hamburg. The band was founded by [a1614012] in 1984 as his solo project. In 1985, Knorr co-founded the label Fast Weltweit, which is considered as initial label of the "Hamburger Schule". In 1987, the band became a trio with [a1614011] and [a568131] joining Knorr. In 1989, Kilian left the band and Frank Spilker as well as [a789451] joined the band. The latter left the band in 1991 and moved to Berlin. The band released its first album in 1990 and should have released their second album "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" on What's So Funny About.. with catalogue number SF 129, but the album was never released. As all remaining band members had their own ideas about their future in the mid 1990's, the band was given up in 1995. In 2024, a Best-of compilation was released, in November 2025, the band performed live in their line up of 1992.
