The Detroit Soul was a band formed about 1965 with mostly local high school boys from New Britain and Pulaski high schools. Lead singer Sal Lanares hailed from South Windsor Connecticut, USA. Prior to Sal, the band was fronted by a three man singing group from Waterbury called "The Connoisesurs". They recorded a hit song called "All of my life" in 1967 and toured all that summer promoting the record. The song was recently used in the UK movie SoulBoy and appears on the Soundtrack CD. Band members were Peter Villano - Hammond B-3, Joey Verrillo - Sax, Ronnie Carrubba - drums, Bart Mazzarella - bass, Richard (Skip) Blankenburg -trumpet, Angelo Marian - trumpeti, Sal Lanares - lead vocals
