Dreaming Genies

Australian indie rock band. Formed and based in Canberra, 1992-1996, then reformed in Sydney. Disbanded circa 2007.

The band self-released a demo, Sunflower (1992), before recording and releasing the CDs Wistaria (1993) and Pretty Hell (1995). Wistaria was also released as a licenced reissue (retitled as Joan) by the Japanese label Behaviour Saviour (catalogue number BS009). The song 'Joan' was also released as a single.

The original line up was:
Mark Broomhead – Guitar/Vocals
Tania Zadoroznyj – Vocals/Guitar
Jeff Smith – Bass
Alex Castro – Drums

Heath Stephens replaced Alex on drums, and Mark was replaced on guitar by Lachlan Rimes.

The band then split and Tania and Jeff moved from Canberra to Sydney in 1996 and reformed the band with Tania’s brother Mark on Guitar and Vocals, and with Carl Fidler on Drums. After gigging in and around Sydney for a few years the group disbanded, last performing circa 2007.
