El Kid

Born in Panama City, Panama, on August 3, 1987 and died on March 20, 2011. He was a reggae, hip hop and urban genre in general singer. Son of the popular Panamanian reggae singer Renato. El Kid during his short musical career showed an innovative musical style for his time in Panama.

El Kid entered the world of music at the age of 13, when he began to write his first songs based on his experiences and stories from his friends, but it was not until 2008 that according to different radio stations in Panama he was recognized as “The Revolution Artist of the Year”. He toured in Europe during this time and created some contacts in Mexico for his future projects.

Among his best-known songs are: “Algo Bonito”, “En Ciencia Cierta”, “La Moda de Invierno” and "Quédate Cool". Others such as “Porno Star” and “Música Constante” were controversial and criticized for the explicit lyrics.

On March 20, 2011, at the age of 23, El Kid was unfortunately killed by gunshot wounds in the Centenario building of Panama City. Witnesses told several media outlets that he was at the final of a sports league during a celebration gathering.
