Electric Source

We are in the year 1994, when the first offshoots of the British trip-hop, big beat and jungle wave reach Germany and mill their way from the streets into the underground clubs with hard beats, massive bass drums and lyrics. Gripped by the energy and the sound, the band project ELECTRIC SOURCE is founded and shortly after releases the eponymous first album (electric source) with the multiple released track "Plantation".

The approach of the protagonists. futuristic sounds, samples, ambient landscapes, breakbeat, noise and dub winking with elements of their own New Wave, NdW and Krautrock past to merge into an independent hybrid genre. This was quite a daring experiment in the mid-90s, not least because distribution and retail were obviously overwhelmed to adequately present the ELECTRIC SOURCE album and so it was more or less lost in the flood of new releases at the time. Nevertheless, the trip-hop masterpiece "Plantation" achieved cult status and later appeared in different mixes on several samplers (including "Global Psychedelic Trance"). The remix of the electro-dub track "Monk-A-Dub" made it onto the compilation "Dubitamin - 13 Rare Dub Ingredients", which otherwise featured absolute scene celebrities like DUB SYNDICATE, BUSH CHEMISTS and DOUG WIMBISH.

The ambitious band project of musician and producer Mark Pfurtscheller (among others The Wirtschaftswunder, Kopfuss Resonator, Strictly Mint), bassist and DJ Benno Suderland ( C.U.B.S., Kristiana Levy, Groovalistic Soundsystem, Tatamba Beast Club) and drummer Jürgen Beuth (Radierer, The Wirtschaftswunder). The latter left during the production. Even today (2024) - almost 30 years later - this still seems like a timeless journey through the most diverse varieties of subcultural pop genres.

With the remastered re-release of the album, ELECTRIC SOURCE heralds a new phase, in the context of which alternative versions of various album tracks are also planned, later also completely unreleased material from the years 2007 - 2012 will be presented.
