    Emissary

Emissary was a Canadian blues-influenced metal/hard rock band based in Montreal, Quebec. It was formed in June 1993, by the final members of the heavy metal band Boize, shortly after fourth vocalist Rejean Briand joined. The band's sound was evolving so a name change was decided. Emissary recorded a demo, "Reach In", in August 1993, and then worked on writing a full-length album for several years. The delay was caused by a constant change of band members, including a new vocalist and several drummers. During the recording of their full-length album, "Digging Up Old Bones", in February 1996, Emissary again changed name to Breaking Violet in order to avoid confusion with other bands also named Emissary. "Digging Up Old Bones" was released in October 1996, under the band's new name Breaking Violet, and was promoted with a music video for the song "Greed". Breaking Violet broke up in early 1999, after going through several more drummers.
