Eric Schmitz

Jazz and big band composer, arranger and percussionist.

Schmitz studied percussion and jazz at the University of Northern Iowa. He is Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at SUNY Oswego, where he directs the Oswego State Jazz Ensemble and Latin Jazz Ensemble, co-leads and performs with faculty jazz quartet Oswego Jazz Project, and teaches jazz and rock history, improvisation, jazz arranging, and music theory and composition.
Son of Alan Schmitz and brother of Christopher Schmitz.
