About

Escombros ("Trash") was a Chilean rock band, active in the underground scene in Chile together with Los Jaivas, Blops, Aguaturbia and Kissing Spell from the late 60s to the early 70s. In 1970, they released two singles and a selftitled album. Austrian singer, pianist and songwriter Walter Sigman (born on Mauritius as Walter Sitzmann) had traveled to Chile to work as a teacher, and wrote or co-wrote most of the songs apart from two covers. He combined his work as a teacher on weekdays, and playing live gigs on weekends. Escombros were heavily influenced by contemporary, British and American rock artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Joe Cocker and Led Zeppelin. In 1971, Walter returned to Vienna, Austria and subsequently the band split up.

Members were:

- Walter Ziman: vocals and piano (1967 – 1971).
- Lito Benito: guitar (1967 – 1972).
- Ricardo Mendeville: guitar (1967 – 1972).
- José Rosemblut: bass (1967 – 1972).
- Michel Boisier: drums (1967 – 1972)
