The Chicago native (December 12, 1942 – January 12, 2004) was one of the mainstays at the Earl Of Old Town, which included fellow folksingers Steve Goodman, Bonnie Koloc, John Prine, and Jim Post. He and his brother Ed (fellow folksinger Edward Mark Holstein) opened up and co-owned Somebody Else's Troubles and then long-standing music club Holsteins. He performed frequently in person and also on WFMT's Midnight Special radio program.
