About

German fusion band active in mid-70s. Frob (the meaning of the band's name is fallen into oblivion also for the members itself) were formed in 1973 in Rheda-Wiedenbrück by Peter Schmits (organ) and Klaus Voss (drums). Quite soon the French guitarist Philippe Caillat, who had moved to Germany to work as a music teacher in 1975, after seeing the band live. In the same year, a definitive and thus longer lasting line-up was formed with Klaus-Dieter Richter (bass) and Peter Meuffels (drums). The band's music then became a relaxed but sophisticated instrumental jazz-rock with progressive elements. They recorded all self-written tracks in a very well-equipped studio in Montpellier, Caillat's home town, from December 28th of 1975 until January 4th of 1976. The album was released in the summer of 1976 in a number of 1000 copies. The record was sold not only after the gigs, but also in music shops of their close surroundings. But despite some encouraging reviews in the music press and several gigs, the continuous dissents about how to go finally led to Peter Meuffels' and Klaus-Dieter Richter's boot-out in 1977. Caillat and Schmits replaced them with other musicians, also changing the name of the band to Arrivèe, but the renewed group was not successful and eventually broke up for good.
