Musician, producer, music executive and web designer originally from Seattle, WA.. Born October 27, 1942, died November 1, 2016 in Taos, New Mexico. Gil Bateman recorded as an artist with Jerden Records at Kearney Barton's 5th Avenue recording studio in Seattle, and also received producing credit for Jerden acts that included the Live Five, the Bards, the Sonics, and the Ceptors. He also worked promotions for Jerry Dennon's small Pacific Northwest label. Gil's hustling led to The Kingsmen's Louie Louie catching on fire and caught the eye of Mel Posner and Jac Holzman who hired him to run Elektra's promotions on the West Coast in 1968, before promoting him to run the national operation. Gil led the promotions team that promoted The Doors and fueled the Elektra catalog to national prominence. Gil left Elektra in the early 70s and continued to champion independent artists and labels across a career that spanned Tumbleweed Records, Shelter Records, Music is Medicine and Windham Hill Records.
