Grupo Logos is a Brazilian popular music band with Christian themes, formed in 1981. It is part of MEL (Missão Evangélica Logos), whose name comes from the Greek word "logos", which means "Living Word".
Founded in the early 1980s, the group is well known by Protestant Christians throughout Brazil. Logos emerged after the end of the Elo Group, which included, in addition to the founding couple, Paulo Cezar and Nilma Soares (who died on May 19, 2020, after a period in hospital as a result of a heart attack), the couple Jairo Trench Gonçalves, better known as Jayrinho, and Hélia Trench Gonçalves, who both died in a car accident on April 14, 1981.
Logos has always been mission-oriented, fulfilling an exhaustive schedule of missionary trips around Brazil and other countries year after year independently, without making a point of publicizing their work in the religious music media.
Classified by many as a Christian MPB group, Logos is considered one of the most respected musical groups in Protestant circles. Their songs have been re-recorded by various other musicians, such as Carlinhos Felix and Alex Gonzaga.
