Guillaume Saint-James

French saxophonist and composer.
He was discoverd by Aldo Romano in 1997 when he was awarded 1st price of the professional competition of the Jazz Festival in Vannes. Guillaume Sain-James has played with major artists of the french jazz scene like Eric Le lann, Emmanuel Bex, Franck Tortiller, Laurent De Wilde, Pierrick Pédron, Stéphane Huchard, Pierre De Bethmann to name a few.
He's leading his own sextet Jazzarium since 2005, and since 2008 is the director of the jazz festival "Jazz aux Ecluses" in Hédé (Brittany/ France).

Since 2012 he is also the leader of original projects like "Le Tatiphone", a jazz and video tribute to the great film-­maker Jacques Tati, and "Jazz around the Bunker" a jazz interpretation of the songs of French author-­composer-­singer Serge Gainsbourg.

He has been commissioned to write works for large ensembles : "Megapolis" for the Orchestre Symphonique De Bretagne in 2013, an extension of his former "Polis" project for his sextet, or "Brothers In Arts / Hommage To Our Fathers" in 2014, a symphonic work co-­written with Chris Brubeck as a tribute for the 70th anniversary of the D-­Day and the Liberation of the WWII, which was performed in France and in USA. In 2016 he composed a concerto for accordion and orchestra (L'Orchestre De Bretagne again) titled "Sketches of Seven" on the seven deadly sins, expanded later for a quartet and renamed "Les Huit Péchès Capitaux" (The Eight Deadly Sins).

In 2018 he met [a=Brandford Marsalis] and composed for him an orchestral and sax piece inspired by the work of James Reese.
