Gustav Asplund

Swedish pianist, chamber musician, composer and conductor, living at Lidingö, born on 1 May 1935.

Studies in piano and music theory for Martha and Albert Mayer-Reinach in Örebro, then at the music college for Olof Wibergh, Åke Udden and Lars-Erik Larsson, a year in Vienna for Bruno Seidlhofer and Hanns Jelinek. Conducting courses for e.g. Eric Ericson, Wojciech Rajski and H Robert Reynolds.

He has conducted chamber operas and many concerts with orchestra societies in the Stockholm area. He has composed songs, piano pieces and chamber music and worked as an arranger and text translator. From 1975 to 2000 he was a repetiteur at the Royal Opera (shorter assignments at the Norrland Opera, Drottningholm Theater, Gothenburg Opera, Sveriges Musikradio and Hamburgische Oper) and is intimately familiar with the repertoire from Mozart to Strauss as well as with many works from the Baroque and 20th century.
