Hans Richter

German actor (and singer and director), born on 12 January 1919 in Nowawes, and died on 5th October 2008 in Heppenheim.

Best known for "Die Feuerzangenbowle" [The Punch Bowl] (1944), "Das Spukschloß im Spessart" [The Haunted Castle] (1960), and "Johannes und die 13 Schönheitsköniginnen" [Johannes and the 13 Beauty Queens] (1951). Began his screen career as a child actor in 1930, the first child star of German sound films. Celebrated for his role in "Emil und die Detektive" (1931), he remained essentially typecast for the remainder of his career, unable to shake his image as the perpetual freckle-faced schoolboy. His later roles often saw him as chauffeurs, newspaper sellers, hairdressers or elevator operators. Performed primarily on stage from the late 1950s and was the founder and director of a theatrical company in Heppenheim, Germany from 1984. He was married to Ingeborg Bieber.
