Pioneer crust punk band from Newcastle, UK, formed in 1984/1985 when guitarist Scruff Lewty (ex The Apostles) and bassist Scotty met at a Subhumans gig. With Phil Laidlow taking drummer's duties, Hellbastard's line up was complete. Their intentions were to play anarchist diy punk music, but with a more Slayer sound. Their first period was quite short as they split up in 1992. While the band was disbanded, Scruff Lewty formed quite a few bands like Nero Circus, Sidewinder, King Fuel, Heavy Water, The Dischargers, Moodhoover etc, and Scotty went to form Hellkrusher. They reformed in 2008, with Scruff Lewty being the only original member. They were scheduled to perform live at An (Exarchia, Athens, Greece) along with 'Χαοτική Απειλή' & 'Αυτοκαταστροφή' on 16/5/1989 but the show ultimately fell through.
