Started in 2011 in Brooklyn, NY as the one-woman solo project of bassist / multi-instrumentalist Dana Schechter (Swans / The Angels Of Light / Gnaw / Wrekmeister Harmonies), the band became a duo in 2015 with the addition of Portland-based drummer Ashley Spungin ([url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/2870163]Taurus[/url] / Purple Rhinestone Eagle), followed by Andy Patterson, formerly of the band [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/1566620]Subrosa[/url].
In 2022, Insect Ark officially relocated to Berlin, Germany, with drummer Tim Wyskida replacing Patterson.
