Jacob Cooper (born 1980) is an American composer based in Brooklyn, NY. He is an Assistant Professor of Music at West Chester University and one-sixth of a composers' collective Sleeping Giant. Cooper received a bachelor's degree in music from Amherst College, as well as a doctorate degree in composition from the Amherst College. He earned a Charles Ives Scholarship from the Amherst College and a Morton Gould Award from ASCAP.
Recent performers of his music include The JACK Quartet, The Calder Quartet, Minnesota Orchestra, and Ensemble ACJW. In 2014, Jacob Cooper released his song cycle Silver Threads for soprano Mellissa Hughes and electronics. His opera Timberbrit has been featured on Amherst College's All Things Considered.
