Irish American folk baritone vocalist and composer (born February 16, 1887 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA – died May 12, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA)
Born of Irish parents in the United States, Mullan made numerous Irish-themed recordings in the 1920s. At different points of his career, Mullan was billed as "The Singing Insurance Man" (he sold life insurance in his day job) and "High Chief Ranger, U.S.A. Irish National Foresters" (the latter was the American branch of an Irish benevolent society).
Mullan composed the 1929 hit: "I Don't Work For A Living", together with pianist Edward Lee, a member of The Four Provinces Orchestra that often accompanied Mullan on recordings.
