Jan Hellman

Swedish bassist / Chapman Stick player / music producer, born 1966 in Oskarshamn, Småland.

He studied music at Oskarshamn Folk High School 1984-1985 and Fridhem's Folk High School outside Malmö 1987 - 1989 and won the Rock-SM with the Malmö band "Under the Sun" in 1988. He has toured and worked as a freelance musician with various groups and artists in Scandinavia and others Europe, USA, Canada and Japan and participated in records as a musician, producer and technician in a variety of contexts. Everything from songs to doom-metal via big bands, pop, avant-garde, theater music, cover bands and commercial music. He has toured and recorded with i.a. Danne Attlerud (Attlerud band), Krister Linder (a.k.a. Chris Lancelot, singer in Dive), Olle Adolphson, Charizma, Jade Ell, Old Lost John, Northbranch, the band "Farsta" where members from Ebba Grön / Imperiet and Grisen Skriker were included, Nils Erikson, Xanima, Candlemass, Mats / Morgan, Clark Terry, Carptree and Lisa Miskovsky. He is also a regular member of the band "Band of Jade" which releases records and tours around Europe.

Jan Hellman runs the studio / production company Confident Music where he ia. produced and released a triple CD with Gunnar Wennerber's work "Gluntarne" and his predecessor "De Tre". Participating are tenor Lars Cleveman, baritone Björn Asker, bass singer Sten Wahlund and Gustav Asplund on grand piano. The studio is equipped with a Steinway grand piano, a Solid State Logic mixer, Studer A80 treadmills, a variety of microphone amplifiers, compressors and microphones from leading manufacturers and a Mac Pro computer with Logic / Protools / Digital Performer and Apogee sound card. A number of artists have chosen to record in the Confident Music studio. Among others Rolandz / Roland Järverup, Anna (Sahlene) Sahlin, Mikael Rickfors, Stefan Gunnarsson, Thomas G: son, David Carlson, Nina Söderquist, the Veronicas and the Chinese singer Vei Vei.

Jan has also participated in BroomStickBass, a software plugin for VST / AU recording programs such as Logic and Cubase, where he plays bass and Stick.
