American actress.

Born May 25, 1925, Barstow, California, USA.
Died December 14, 2003, Santa Barbara, California, USA (aged 78).
Her youngest son, Christopher Brinkman, was the original lead guitarist for the rock group Jane's Addiction (1985-1986). He died of a drug overdose in 1997.

She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her title role in Pinky (1949). Although she was in numerous musicals, she was not a singer. Louanne Hogan was specifically under contract so that she could dub the singing in all her musicals.
