Jennifer Hensel (now Jennifer Kowa) was the lead singer for the German progressive rock group Octopus from the mid 1970s through 1980. Her distinctive and powerful alto voice and sometimes gritty singing style on the first three Octopus albums is often compared to Janis Joplin. She left the band after the third album, "Rubber Angel". After Octopus she formed the short-lived Jennifer Capell Band and in October she and her husband Win Kowa formed The Radio, which released a 6-track 12 single "Active" on Rouge Records

She is married to former Octopus guitarist Win Kowa and she and her husband perform and record as the duo Kowa. On recent albums she also plays piano and bass.
