Los Angeles-based musician, producer and songwriter, Jim Jacobsen , probably best known for his collaboration with Eels.
Jim, started out his musical career, as the mastermind behind the early 80's avant garde, jazz, prog rock project, Eardance.
Based in Chicago, Illinois the band released their first and only album, "Seek Opposites" on Jim's own label ,Touch Records, in 1982. It featured a wide array of instruments handled mostly by multi-instrumentalist Jacobsen (bass, Chapman Stick, guitar, synthesizers, pianos)
Unfortunately, the album didn't receive much attention, as It was produced and released independently in Chicago so sales and distribution were pretty small. Eardance were, also, a more challenging listen than the early 80s new wave, pop that ruled the charts at the time.
The band survived, numerous personnel changes, until spring 1988, when the band broke up. In 1991, Jim Jacobsen moved to Los Angeles, where he was a staff song writer for Warner Chappell Music until 1996. In 1987 Jim became President and Sole Proprietor of library music company Tracktown Music. It was here that Jim would compose, create and record sample libraries and loops using some of LA's best session players. Over the years, Jim's sounds have been featured in hundreds of charting songs and top film and television soundtracks, including Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and usually under one of his many aliases.
(Adam James, Luther Jordan, Wolf McKenzie, Peter Morris or James Williamson)
Since 2002, Jim has also work alongside his fellow Eels collaborator Parthenon Huxley composing music for film and television under the name Killer Tracks.
