American rhythm & blues guitarist and singer, born 3 April, 1934, Oklahoma City, died 18 December, 1983, Atlanta, Georgia.
Nolen first recorded under his own name for Elko in Los Angeles, California, in 1955, and then had recording sessions for Federal in 1955-1959, but was also found in the bands backing other West Coast artists, such as Chuck Higgins, Johnny Otis, George Smith, and Jimmy Wilson.
