English traditional pop music singer, popular during the 1950s and early 1960s. Born 19th January 1928, Romford, Essex, England Died 12th September 2013 (aged 85). She charted 12 times (11 in the U.K, once in the U.S.) between 1953 and 1961. Her top charting single was " If I Give My Heart to You", which landed at #3 in the U.K. in 1954. She also charted with her son Rusty in 1955 with the song "Open Up Your Heart", which landed at #19 in the U.K. Joan appeared in several shows at the London Palladium, including 'We're Having A Ball' with Max Bygraves, 'Stars In Your Eyes' with Russ Conway, Cliff Richard, Edmund Hockridge and Billy Dainty, pantomime with Frankie Vaughan and Jimmy Edwards and several Royal Command Performances.
