Dowell had six songs that charted in the U.S. in 1961-62, with "Wooden Heart" hitting #1 in June of 1961. The song sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold disc. "The Bridge of Love" came out that same year and landed at #50 overall and #10 adult contemporary. In 1962 his "Little Red Rented Rowboat" landed at #23.
