American pop singer. Born January 23, 1940 in Bloomington, Illinois. Died February 4, 2016 in Bloomington, Illinois (age of 76). Dowell had six songs that charted in the U.S. in 1961-62, with "Wooden Heart" hitting #1 in June of 1961. The song sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold disc. "The Bridge of Love" came out that same year and landed at #50 overall and #10 adult contemporary. In 1962 his "Little Red Rented Rowboat" landed at #23.
