Johannes Schade

German military conductor, arranger, composer and liner notes author. From 1975 to 1980 Johannes Schade was music inspector of the Bundeswehr (Musikinspizient der Bundeswehr).

Johannes Schade acted as guest conductor of Heeresmusikkorps 5 Der Bundeswehr from 1975 to 1979.

Johannes Schade was born in 5 April 1921. In 1942, during World War II, he was a military musician in the Staff Music Corps of the Luftwaffe Guards Battalion (Stabsmusikkorps beim Wachbataillon der Luftwaffe). In 1944 he studied at the State University of Music in Berlin-Charlottenburg, and finished his studies one year later in 1945, where he probably earned a degree in musical direction (Musikmeister). From 11 July 1956 to 1 May 1964, Johannes Schade was conductor of the Luftwaffenmusikkorps 3. From 1966 to the mid-1970s Schade was conductor of the Heeresmusikkorps 6, Hamburg. In 1975 he was promoted to Music Inspector of the Bundeswehr (Musikinspizient der Bundeswehr), which was the highest rank for a musician in the Bundeswehr. Due to his high rank he was guest conductor of the Heeresmusikkorps 5 Der Bundeswehr from 1975 to 1979. In 1980 he finished his post as music inspector of the Bundeswehr and probably also retired from the Bundeswehr. Johannes Schade died in 4 January 2014 at the age of 92.
