Jonne Sands

Jonne Sands was a pop rock singer from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Jonne sands was born John Sandstrom July 13, 1951 in Sydney. In the early 1960s his family oved to the Brisbane suburb of Mt Gravatt. Just short of his 16th birthday when he was groomed by Sunshine records to take Normie Rowe's place on the label following the latter's controversial conscription. Jonne had immediate, albeit minor, success in hometown Brisbane with his debut single "It's Your Life" in May 1968. His second single, "Mothers & Fathers" did even better, charting nationally, including a much-needed breakthrough in Sydney. Throughout his career, he was also a popular performer on TV shows like Uptight and Bandstand. However, despite further hits in Brisbane and a total of six singles on the Sunshine label he failed to chart in the Top 40 nationally.

A one-off single for EMI/Columbia at the tail end of 1970 failed to reverse the trend and his last solo single, ''I Can Promise You Sunshine / Rikky Rikky'', a picture disc on Nuclear Productions, was issued in 1973.

In 1973 Jonne joined Sydney 1960s harmony/rock band The Executives, replacing Gino Cunnico as co-lead vocalist with Carol King. The revamped lineup continued to record and perform live and on television until 1978. Jonne and Carole were part of a briefly re-formed Executives in 1985-86.
