American songwriter (born: March 12, 1894 in Modesto, California - died: June 22 1987 in New York, NY)

Meyer started his composing career in 1921. In 1922, he landed his first hits with “My Honey’s Lovin’ Arms” (lyrics by Harry Ruby) and "California, Here I Come" (with lyrics by Buddy De Sylva). During the 1920s and 1930s, Meyer contributed songs to popular Broadway reviews, and his songs have been featured in more than 120 movies.

Other well-known songs by him include "Clap Your Hands, Here Comes Charley," "If You Knew Susie," "A Cup of Coffee, A Sandwich and You,", "Isn’t It Heavenly," "Falling In Love With You," "I Wish I Were Twins," "Meadows of Heaven," "Crazy Rhythm," "Oh, I Didn’t Know," "It’s an Old Southern Custom," "It’s Time to Say Goodnight," and "According to the Moonlight."

Not to be confused with the French Horn player Joe Meyer (also known as Joseph Meyer).
