Karl Olsberg is the pseudonym of the German writer and entrepreneur Karl-Ludwig Max Hans Freiherr von Wendt (born December 19, 1960 in Bielefeld). His father was Freiherr Karl von Wendt (1937-2006), a car racer and entrepreneur. Karl-Ludwig von Wendt began his first writing activities in 1971 under the pseudonym Karl Olsberg, the second part of whose name refers to his hometown, where he grew up. He studied business administration in Münster and earned his doctorate with a thesis on applications of artificial intelligence. He then became a management consultant at the management and strategy consultancy McKinsey. He was also marketing manager of a TV station for some time, managing director of a medium-sized production company and founded a multimedia agency in 1993. In 1999, he founded a software company, which was awarded "Start Up of the Year 2000" in 2000. Since 2003 he has concentrated more on writing books, but remains a full-time management consultant and has his main residence in Hamburg.[4] He states his daily workload as 1,000 words, which he aims to achieve between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning. His first book publication was Hier kommt Elbot in 2005, which made it onto the Spiegel bestseller list. Karl-Ludwig von Wendt is married and has three children.
