British pianist, television and film score composer, conductor and arranger, born 26 January 1925 in East Dereham, Norfolk. He began playing piano at age five.
In 1966 he was awarded an Academy Award for scoring "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" and earned a Grammy nomination for The Beatles' "Help!"
He passed away at the age of 90 in 2014.
