Born in Frankfurt am Main to a Finnish mother and Turkish father, he was raised in Germany and now lives in Berlin. From 1992 to 2002 he lived in New York City and was the owner of the Temple Records shop in the East Village and the associated label, Temple Records N.Y.C. Inc. In 2008 he founded the Temple Records N.Y.C. Inc. record label. He is the brother of Cem Oral.
