    Detroit, Michigan band formed in 1959 by Lenny Drake (lead guitar), Pete Weiss (rhythm guitar), Al Johnson (bass), and Dave Ashbolt (drums). The Thundertones was composed of classmates from Redford High School. Across the street from Redford High was a record shop called Bell Records, owned by Bud Jandrino, who became the band's manager.
