He frequently worked with Frank Edwards in Mobile in the late 1930s-early 1940s, moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1943, making his first recordings for Sittin' In With in New York 1948-1949. He was again recorded by Pete Welding in 1962 (two tracks released on Storyville and Milestone anthologies).
