Died November 11, 1997 (aged 85).
Douglas was a classically trained musician, studying at The American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, & the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Best known as director and producer of three big Joni James hits: "Why Don't You Believe Me"/"Purple Sheets", "Let There Be Love", / "My Love, My Love"/"Almost Always" and the Cathy Carr smash on Fraternity "Ivory Tower".
At Mercury, MGM and Fraternity Records, he recorded such stars as Joni James, Patti Patge, Pat Boone, The Weavers, Jimmy Dorsey, Vic Damone, and many others.
He was also well-known as a songwriter, including hits "Why Don't You Believe Me", "Have You Heard" and "Pretend".
He was associated with some of the country's foremost recording companies and national TV and radio networks in the dual capacities of A&R director, conductor and arranger. Later he was the musical director of Carlton Record Corporation. ASCAP IPI# 8574971.
