American singer of the big band era (born December 27, 1921 in Fort Wayne, IN – died June 2, 2010 in Sun City, CA)

In 1941-1942, Lane was a member of the vocal quartet The Snowflakes that performed with Claude Thornhill And His Orchestra. After that, she briefly sang for Jerry Wald's band, then for George Olsen's orchestra. 1944-1945 saw her perform with Gene Krupa. In 1945, she switched to Artie Shaw, in 1946 to Tex Beneke's orchestra. In 1947, she recorded the hit "I Want To Be Loved" with Benny Goodman. Later that year, she recorded with Bill Millner's new orchestra and was featured solo on the Huckster label. In 1948, she recorded for Victor with the [a=Page Cavanaugh Trio].
