Lloyd Grant

Lloyd Grant is a Jamaica-born guitar player best known for playing lead guitar on the original version of "Hit The Lights", the very first song ever released by Metallica. The song first appeared on the "Metal Massacre" compilation on Metal Blade Records. At the time, Metallica was still in it's formative stages and Lloyd never played a live gig with the band. Later pressings of the compilation replaced the version with Lloyd with a version the band recorded with Dave Mustaine, who had become the band's lead guitarist once they had become a fully functional and performing live act.

Lloyd later played in a metal band called Defcon in the 1980's.

Lloyd made his first live appearance with Metallica in December 2011 as part of the band's 30th Anniversary celebration.
