    American composer, film score writer & pianist.

    Born September 6, 1889 in New York, New York, USA.
    Died March 26, 1954 in Hollywood, California, USA.
    Best known works include "April Showers" and score from "The Jazz Singer" with Al Jolson.
    Silvers worked in vaudeville as pianist, and later as musical director for shows by Gus Edwards.
    In the 1930's he was working on A-grade films but by the 1940's was free-lancing, scoring B-movies (primarily westerns and crime melodramas) for minor studios. Silvers was also music director for Lux Radio Theater for most of its long run (1934–1955).
