    Léo Canhoto & Robertinho

Widely popular "sertanejo" duo during the 1970s and 1980s, Léo Canhoto & Robertinho were responsible for bringing the pop into the until then very folk roots of Caipira Music. Moving from the pure "viola & violão" sound of the pioneers, LC&R added bolero, pop, US country pop, cowboy ballads, Guaranyas and Latin rhythms to their palate. Moreover, electric bass, guitars and drums became norm during that period - and they were largely responsible for that. For that reason, and for the fact they also wore long hair and "cowboy" looks, they were called the "Hippies of Sertanejo Music" - even using that as a title for one of their albums.

    Still active as of 2010.
