Malachai (renamed from Malakai, after the discovery of hip hop artist Mailikai) are duo Scott Hendy & Gary Ealey (aka [a=Gee (26)]) from Bristol, UK who mix sample-based mash up beats, dub, scratchy soul records, live instrumention and Gee's distinctive vocal style. Initially picked up by Geoff Barrow of Portishead's Invada label, the band quickly signed to Island. They toured with Groove Armada and Mr Hudson & The Library and had a prestigious Sunday night slot at the Portishead-curated ATP festival.
