About

American singer, actress, and songwriter.
Born November 6, 1934 Mississippi Died December 30, 2001 (aged 67) in Nashville, Tennessee. Married to songwriter/musician John Hartford.
At the age of eight, Susan was an accomplished accordionist, entertaining customers in her father's South Philadelphia grocery store. At ten, she had switched to singing and appeared for eight consecutive years on "The Children's Hour", a local weekly Philadelphia TV show. In 1958, she went to New York to appear on Arthur Godfrey's "Talent Scouts" show, and decided to stay and try her luck in the big city.
After an already arduous singing and dancing career, Susan, not yet nineteen, auditioned for Capitol, hoping to get to release some singles. Instead, with enthusiastic support, she signed on for a full-length album.
