American musician, composer, singer and painter, born 18 May 1950 in Akron, Ohio, USA. Son of Robert L. Mothersbaugh, brother of Bob Mothersbaugh and Jim Mothersbaugh.

Formed Devo in 1973 with Gerald V. Casale. During a Devo hiatus between 1984-1988, Mothersbaugh released instrumental solo albums in his Musik For Insomniaks series and began a lucrative career as a soundtrack artist, starting with Pee-Wee's Playhouse in 1986, and in 1994, he began scoring films.

His music production company is Mutato Muzika.
