The funk-rock band Mazarati was created by Prince's bassist and protégé Brown Mark, with strong behind-the-scenes support from Prince. The group got signed to Paisley Park/Warner Bros. Records, and soon after released their first self-titled album which was co-produced by Brown Mark, Prince and David Rivkin. From this album came the band’s first single, 100 MPH, which rose to #19 on the R&B charts. Following the album’s release, Mazarati began touring with an ensemble of artist including Prince, Sheila E., New Edition, George Duke, LL Cool J, Molly Hatchet, Alexander O’Neal, Ta Mara and the Seen, Jermaine Jackson, Jesse Johnson and others. In 1989 Mazarati was signed and released a second album with Motown Records. On this album, the group’s previous success drew the attention of music Producers such as Michael Sembello, Bernadette Cooper (Klymaxx) and Toto, who each wrote and produced several songs. Musician/Producer and band originator Brown Mark also remained as a lead writer and contributor on the production of the album. Since then, members of the band have worked with a variety of musicians and producers including Paula Abdul and Prince's sideman, Dr. Fink. Today, “Mazarati Revisited”, featuring original members OneGunn (aka Marr Starr) and lead guitarist Screamer, is designed to rekindle the songs and vitality of Mazarati, and is a tribute for fans worldwide.
