Mittens

Indie-pop band from San Diego, California, formed in 2009. Mittens started out as a duo consisting of singer/bassist Lia Dearborn and singer/guitarist Ramona McCarthy. They later added singer/guitarist/keyboardist Paul Ryu and drummer Tyler Shimkus, making their live debut as a quartet in May 2012. They released a self-titled album in 2016. Shimkus left and was replaced by Matthew Burke in February 2017. Mittens' second album, [i]Endlessly[/i], was released that November, and won Best Rock Album at the 2018 San Diego Music Awards. The band was also named Best Pop Act at the 2019 awards. The band describes their sound as "cat-pop", noting their "multiple lead singers and songwriters, three-part harmonies, strong hooks, and copious instrumental breaks."
