About

Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) or Московский ансамбль современной музыки (МАСМ) was founded in 1990 by Yuri Kasparov under the patronage of composer Edison Denisov. The ensemble focuses on promoting contemporary classical music of the XX and XXI centuries. MCME had premiered over 800 compositions, and they are widely known for their recitals of Russian composers of the 1920-30s and 1960s, including Nikolai Roslavetz, Alexander Mossolov, Dmitri Shostakovich, Alfred Schnittke. They also performed works by Edgard Varèse, Iannis Xenakis, Helmut Lachenmann, Wolfgang Rihm, Louis Andriessen, Theo Loevendie, Luigi Nono, Luciano Berio and other notable contemporary composers.

Moscow Ensemble regularly performs across Russia and all over the world in Armenia, Austria, Belorussia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and USA. The orchestra participated in various festivals and events, such as Moscow Biennale for Contemporary Art, Diaghilev Fest, FrankfurtFest, Maerzmusik, Gaudeamus Music Week, The Night of the Unexpected, Warsaw Autumn, Klangspuren, etc.
