    Mexican folk musician and songwriter. He was born on March 17, 1914, in Xochiatipan, Hgo. He died in Mexico City on July 30, 1990. He is considered as the author who marketed the Son Huasteco making it known throughout the world and achieving the acceptance of this rhythm motivating that even composers outside the Huasteca, perform works at the rhythm of Huapango.

    The most successful songs of his authorship are El Hidalguense, Las Tres Huastecas, El Cantador, La Calandria, Sueño, El Alegre, El Huasteco Enamorado, Fiesta Huasteca, El Gavilán Tamaulipeco, El Huasteco and Mi Huejutla. Brother of Roque Castillo.
