Nicolas Vérin (Saint-Omer, June 21, 1958) is a French composer. Formerly a pianist, he studied electroacoustic composition with Pierre Schaeffer & Guy Reibel before attempting a PhD in composition at the University of California in San Diego under Roger Reynolds, Joji Yuasa, Bernard Rands, Julio Estrada et Gordon Mumma. Assistant of Pierre Henry, collaborator of Jean-Claude Eloy in 1987 for the computer environment at Centre informatique appliqué à la musique et à l'image, he learned MAX software on the SIM System in 1989 at Institut de recherche et de coordination acoustique musique (IRCAM). He also became a teacher in 1991 at École nationale de musique in Chalon-sur-Saône, then from 2000 at École nationale de musique danse in Évry. He used to perform live improvised music with flutist Cécile Daroux and saxophonist Louis Sclavis within Daroux-Sclavis-Vérin trio.
