Ninet Tayeb

Ninet (or Ninette) Tayeb (born October 21, 1983, in Kiryat Gat, Israel) is an actress, rock singer-songwriter and guitarist of Tunisian and Moroccan Sephardic Jewish descent currently based in Los Angeles. In 2003 she was the winner of the first season Kochav Nolad, the Israeli version of Pop Idol. She then starred in the TV series "HaShir Shelanu" ("Our Song") for four seasons, which was loosely based on her life story. Her first solo album, "Yechefa" ("Barefoot"), was released in 2006. For her 2009 album "Kommunicativi" ("Communicative") Tayeb abandoned her sweetheart image and recreated herself as a rocker, performing a mix of alternative rock and post-punk. That same year she starred in the film "Kirot" (released in the U.S. as "The Assassin Next Door"). In 2010 Tayeb starred in the Hebrew version of the rock musical "The Awakening" and was nominated for best actress for the Israeli Theatre Awards.

Tayeb joined Gilad Kahana's project The Walking Man as a guitarist and backing vocalist, appearing on the album "Bad Love" in 2011. She also shared lead vocals on the song "My Game". "Sympathetic Nervous System" (2012) was her first solo album recorded entirely in English for the international market. For a number of songs on the album she adopted a hard rock sound. She returned to recording in her native Hebrew for her 2013 album "All The Animals Knew". She moved with her husband, Joseph E-Shine, to Los Angeles in 2016 and released her first American album, Paper Parachute, in February, 2017.
